CARROLLTON, Texas-Handset distribution company CellStar Corp. and European wireless content company Buongiorno Vitaminic SpA announced an innovative partnership to increase their respective sales opportunities. CellStar said the deal would allow it to add content like ring tones and games to its handsets for sale to wireless carriers, while Buongiorno said the deal would give it access to carriers in North America, Latin America and China.
“CellStar’s expansion into the mobile media arena illustrates our commitment to expand our product line to our worldwide distribution partners,” said Robert Kaiser, CellStar’s chief executive officer. “Teaming with a leading provider of mobile media content not only allows us to expand our product line into ring tones, screen savers and games, but it also gives Buongiorno the opportunity to expand their presence into other markets.”
The partnership highlights the growing importance of the wireless content space, as well as the complicated business dealings amount players in the wireless value chain.
