AppGate to release VPN for mobile roaming

GOTHENBURG, Sweden-AppGate Network Security AB announced plans to release a new version of its virtual private network system that will enable roaming for mobile devices, PCs and other devices.

“If the connection to the VPN server is lost, the software will automatically reconnect the user to the server when a network becomes available. The VPN client can even disconnect the user from the VPN server automatically if no data is being sent by applications,” explained Tomas Olovsson, chief technology officer at AppGate. “This means that applications always believe they have a connection, even though the VPN client may have disconnected the user temporarily from the VPN server due to lack of application activity.”

Additionally, the roaming capability will allow users to seamlessly move between different networks without losing contact with the VPN system or applications.

AppGate plans to release its Security Server version 6.3 at the end of this month.
