CSI Wireless technology helps Texas police recover stolen goods

CALGARY-CSI Wireless Inc.’s Asset-Link asset-tracking hardware has been used by Texas police to recover more than $2.7 million in stolen goods, make arrests and break up a Dallas-based truck theft ring, the company said.

The Texas State Police’s North Texas Auto Theft Task Force was supplied with Asset-Link units from HeavyTrack and Holt Caterpillar for task-force operations after receiving court authorization to install the tracking units on suspects’ vehicles.

“We’ve recovered $2.7 million worth of items so far, and the total keeps rising,” said Lt. Tim Stewart. “We’ve recovered more than 24 truck tractors and 26 trailers, plus some cargo-including furniture, electronics, barbecues, clothing and ceiling fans-using the Asset-Link units.”

Asset-Link features global positioning system and wireless technology, including an Aeris.net Microburst version for tracking and cellular coverage throughout North America. A GSM version, to work in the 200 countries that have deployed GSM, will be available later this year.

The company also offers the FLT-Link product line for tracking trailers, which includes a solar-powered version that doesn’t require power from a truck’s electrical system to function.
