Capitalizing on the growing interest in wireless broadband services. BellSouth Corp. has launched a wireless router product as part of its business broadband portfolio that will integrate a DSL modem and router into a single device with the option of wired or wireless Internet connectivity. The company added the device would also include built-in firewall protection for secure Internet transactions.
The router is designed to support four wired Ethernet connections and up to 25 802.11b-enabled computers and is expected to sell for as low as $150.
Regional bell operating company Qwest Communications International Inc. announced a similar program earlier this year for its consumer and business DSL offerings.
