AUSTIN, Texas-Two communications have joined the WiMax Forum, which supports the 802.16 protocol seen by many as a potential competitor to both Wi-Fi and cellular networks.
Wireless Valley Communications and Cambridge Broadband said they will support the technology with their offerings.
“The key strength of WiMax is its interoperability,” said Peter Wharton, chief executive officer of Cambridge.
Nokia also earlier this week announced it plans to rejoin the forum.
