Motorola Inc. released the A630 wireless handset at a gala in New York City today.
The candy bar-shaped device features a hidden QWERTY keyboard for texting, e-mailing and instant messaging. It offers integrated Bluetooth wireless technology, a speaker phone and e-mail support for POP3, SMTP and Imap4.
The device also comes with a VGA camera with four-times zoom, a color display and multimedia messaging capabilities for sharing images.
Finally, the phone includes GSM tri-band capabilities, J2ME downloading functionality, gaming keys and a polyphonic speaker for enhanced sounds and advanced MP3 ring tones.
The phone will be available through Cingular Wireless L.L.C. late this summer for between $200 and $300, depending on subsidies offered.
“With the debut of the model A630, Motorola delivers a uniquely designed handset that stands apart from the pack, promising simplified voice and messaging communications supported by the latest technology,” said James Burke, senior director of product operations for Motorola. “With its clever combination of fun and function, the model A630 is sure to please style-conscious movers and shakers.”
Last week Motorola paired with Canada’s Rogers Wireless to announce the North American launch of the Motorola V220 and the Motorola C650 phones. Both quad-band handsets include world-roaming technology, cameras, color displays and MP3 downloading capabilities.
