REDMOND, Wash.-Nextel Partners Inc. has adopted Microsoft Corp.’s Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 to run its internal corporate portal that currently serves more than 2,800 employees across the country.
The carrier said the new system will allow employees to take advantage of searchable company information, allow customer service representatives to get up-to-date information up to five times faster, and allow customization and personalization of portal content enabling managers to target information, programs and updates to specific employees based on their organizational role, team membership, security group and other functions.
The service also allows integration with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook 2003, the Extensible Markup Language features of Word 2003 and Excel 2003.
