WASHINGTON-Commerce Secretary Donald Evans today named Dan Caprio as the agency’s chief privacy officer. The department said Caprio would add privacy to his current responsibilities as assistant secretary for technology.
“Mr. Caprio’s experience in information security, privacy and global electronic commerce make him the ideal candidate to carry forward the administration’s commitment to economic prosperity through protecting the privacy of and free flow of information,” said Evans. “I am pleased Commerce will continue to play a leadership role for the federal government in this area with Mr. Caprio leading our efforts.”
