BERKELEY, Calif.-MobiTV continued to add content offerings to its video streaming service Tuesday, signing agreements with NBC Universal, FOX Interactive Media and Comedy Time.
With the latest announcement, MobiTV offers more than a dozen popular television channels, including ABC and NBC news channels, FOX Sports, The Discovery Channel and TLC.
“MobiTV has opened up a significant new category and distribution channel for television content,” said Dr. Phillip Alvelda, chief executive officer of Idetic Inc., which developed the service. “With more than 1 billion mobile-phone users worldwide, we believe live mobile TV, and our proprietary technology that makes this possible, represents a significant opportunity for all types of content providers.”
MobiTV is available to Sprint PCS customers with Vision phones via a Java download for $9.95 a month.
