ARMONK, N.Y.-Orange will use IBM software and services to offer its mobile-phone customers single sign-on capabilities for secure access to different mobile services and Web sites.
IBM’s software is compliant with the Liberty Alliance’s 1.1 specification for single sign-on, which allows identity data to communicate over disparate networks. “As we offer more services to our large customer base, customers demand the ease of having single sign-on across their mobile and ISP services,” said Jean-Paul Maury of France Telecom. “We continuously look for more efficient ways to secure systems and administer users effectively, and identity federation is the next frontier.”
Despite compliance with the Liberty specification, IBM is not a member of the Liberty Alliance, which includes more than 150 organizations.
