Report predicts solid future for European directory assistance market

SAN FRANCISCO-The European directory-assistance market has a solid future provided mobile-phone subscribers are included, according to a new report by Visiongain Publishing titled “Mobile Directory Services 2004-2009.”

“Visiongain believes that if the [directory-assistance] market is to continue to progress it needs to recognize that it should be listing the numbers of mobile subscribers in addition to supplying services to them,” said the company. “Increasingly, [directory query] services contain fewer of the real numbers that are used every day.”

According to the report, the market for European mobile listings will be worth $2.67 billion by 2009, taking into account that not all markets will include mobile listings and not all subscribers will opt in.
