PLEASANTON, Calif.-Pronto Networks Inc. and Tropos Networks Inc. signed a strategic agreement to drive metro-scale Wi-Fi hot-zone deployments
The companies’ joint solution is in use in a 16-square-mile deployment in Chaska, Minn., and in an 8.6-square-mile deployment in Cerritos, Calif. Those networks enable wireless connectivity for city and public-safety workers, as well as businesses and residents who sign up for paid service plans.
Under the new deal, Pronto will supply operations support systems, while Tropos will supply the equipment. “Municipalities are looking for affordable, metro-area wireless broadband solutions that take just a few months to deploy, not years,” said Ron Sege, president and chief executive officer of Tropos Networks.
