HAMBURG, Germany-Content management software company CoreMedia AG said the Mobile Information and News Data Services for 3G (MINDS) project is beginning a new phase.
The project was launched eight months ago by five European news agencies that are developing news services based on CoreMedia’s Smart Content Technology, including content management and digital rights management, said the company.
The MINDS project plans to supply European operators and publishers with the first set of standards and concepts for mobile information services by the end of this year.
“We are already much further than originally planned,” said Meinolf Ellers, managing director of dpa-infocom, which is managing the project. “We expect to launch a solution for publishers where regional newspapers, business media or local governments may realize their own service offerings for mobile handsets.”
MINDS is funded by the European Commission.
