NEW YORK-NXT plc’s new second-generation Distributed Mode Actuator (DMA) component makes flat speakers in small portable appliances, including mobile phones, possible.
According to NXT, the new components are 20 percent smaller than the first-generation units and offer 10-times greater efficiency than conventional loudspeakers.
In mobile phones, the solution uses the display screen as the speaker, completely eliminating the need for a separate speaker grille.
