CHEYENNE, Wyo.-Many elderly people in Wyoming are considering dumping their traditional home phones and going wireless, according to a study by the American Association of Retired Persons.
The study, conducted earlier this year, indicates that one-third of Wyoming AARP members were dissatisfied with their phone service, and 67 percent felt they were paying too much for the service they received. Nearly half the respondents said they have switched, or were considering switching, from a landline to a mobile phone.
“Most of our members are satisfied with the quality of their phone service,” said Rita Inoway, AARP’s Wyoming director. “But our members complain that the cost of their landline is too much, and that seems to be driving them to consider using a cell phone for all their needs.”
