MUNICH-Several wireless carriers, including T-Mobile, Vodafone, mmO2 and E-Plus, have stopped selling Siemens’ 65-series mobile phones as a result of the software malfunction the company warned of earlier this week, according to reports.
The company said its fourth-quarter results will likely be negatively impacted. “That this will have an impact on the fourth-quarter result is absolutely clear,” a company spokesman reportedly said, declining to elaborate.
The news is not good for Siemens, which experienced a $106 million loss on handset sales last quarter and was counting on the 65-series phones to bring it back to profitability.
Siemens said it has already developed new software to prevent the malfunction in future 65 series phones.
