Verizon Wireless will launch Verizon Wireless stores inside more than 570 Circuit City Superstores around the country via a new store-within-a-store concept meant to bolster its retail presence.
Circuit City also noted that it will stop selling T-Mobile USA Inc. products and services in its retail locations. Circuit City began offering T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless beginning last summer as a way of simplifying its wireless offerings and now will exclusively offer Verizon service.
Verizon currently operates 1,200 Verizon retail stores.
The Circuit City-based stores will be owned, operated and managed by Verizon Wireless, which will be responsible for the employees, inventory and store displays. Verizon Wireless customers will be able to access services available at other Verizon Wireless stores, including account lookups and bill pay, as well as take advantage of promotional incentives.
The companies plan to begin opening the stores in September and to complete the launch by November.
