LONDON-Anglo-Dutch information technology services firm LogicaCMG will use Sun Microsystems’ Java Enterprise System for its wireless data services and messaging offerings, Sun announced Tuesday.
LogicaCMG will implement the full array of component products included in Java, allowing it to offer an increased range of services to its carrier customers and to further differentiate the company’s wireless messaging options, including voicemail, videomail and video streaming.
“Sun and LogicaCMG have built a solid relationship based on cooperation and innovation,” said Chris McDermott, chief executive officer of LogicaCMG Wireless Networks. “The Sun Java Enterprise System allows us to deliver world-leading wireless solutions to our corporate customers with increased speed, frequency and confidence.”
Meanwhile, LogicaCMG announced a small rise in profits, but a 5-percent decrease in revenues, over the first half of the year. The firm posted an adjusted pretax profit of $70 million, up 0.8 percent from the previous year, on revenues of $1.45 billion.
LogicaCMG Chief Executive Officer Dr. Martin Read said the he expects the company’s performance to improve in the second half.
“Both our key territories are growing once again,” said Read, “and we are taking the necessary actions to address the under-performing parts of the business.”
