Verizon enhances wireless content service

Verizon Wireless launched a pair of new games from Digital Chocolate Inc. and Modtones Gallery from Faith West for its Get It Now downloadable service, as well as adding a new service from M7 to enhance the offering for users and content companies.

Digital Chocolate’s Baseball Heroes of the MLBPAA by DChoc Sports allows users to go head-to-head with Major League Baseball stars from the 1970s and ’80s using four playing modes and can be purchased for $2.49 per month or $5.75 for unlimited access.

Digital Chocolate explains that DChoc Bubble Ducky “incorporates the traditional bath-time buddy in an interactive puzzle that challenges players to pop bubbles in order to clear the screen.” The game is available for $1.75 per month or $2.49 for unlimited use.

Faith West said its Modtones Gallery provides users with a mobile art gallery of downloadable images from such licensed properties as Viacom Consumer Products, including entertainment graphics and music band images. The application is available for $1.49 for an image, $4 for three images or $6 for five images.

Verizon Wireless also announced that M7 Networks Inc. will provide its M7SMS HubService for the carrier’s Get It Now suite of wireless applications, allowing developers and content owners to use short message service for enhanced functionality in games, information services and productivity applications.

M7 noted the service would allow customers to be alerted to re-starting a multiplayer game after taking a phone call, initiate a chat session from a personal computer to a cell phone, receive images and graphics of weather conditions or set a mobile calendar application to automatically synchronize when changes are made.

M7 provides similar services to Sprint PCS’ Game Lobby offering, as well as U.S. Cellular Corp.’s Easyedge wireless data service.
