LA JOLLA, Calif.-Wireless users can create personal video greetings specifically tailored for friends and family members through a new application from mobile software developer Openwave Systems.
The third-generation service allows users to record video greetings featuring images of themselves, celebrities or animated depictions, and choose specific greetings for specific callers. Openwave announced the offering Wednesday at the Demo Mobile exhibition.
“The lesson that the industry at large has learned from gaming and entertainment applications is that personalization is key for driving revenue in the operator community,” said Richard Wong, Openwave’s general manager of messaging. “By giving end users the option to leave different types of video messages for different people in their social network or work environment, operators can perfect the user experience by giving users a voice and character that’s truly their own.”
