LA JOLLA, Calif.-With the NFL’s opening weekend just days away, Sorrent announced three new sports-related mobile content offerings. The California-based company will promote the launch with a television advertising campaign that Sorrent claims will be the first of its kind by a mobile-gaming publisher.
Beginning next week, the publisher will launch three titles: “Fox Sports Mobile,” which will provide news, standings and odds for all major pro and college games; “Fox Sports Football ’05,” a top-down football game; and “Fox Sports Fantasy Football,” which allows users to build a roster of NFL players.
“Mobile entertainment has entered the mainstream,” said Jill Braff, Sorrent’s vice president of marketing. “Both video-game companies and wireless carriers have historically been among the largest national advertisers, and as mobile gaming continues to penetrate the mass market, Sorrent and Fox Sports will be there to educate consumers about the games and entertainment available to them on their cell phones.”
