OVERLAND PARK, Kan.-Sprint Corp. and palmOne Inc. reported a multi-year agreement to provide pharmaceutical industry market insight provider ImpactRx with wireless voice and data services via palmOne’s Treo 600 smart phones to ImpactRx’s network of more than 1,000 prescribing physicians by next March. Sprint said the deployment will enable immediate receipt of data collected by physicians anywhere on the carrier’s network.
Financial terms of the deal were not released. PalmOne said ImpactRx has purchased “several hundred” Treo 600 smart phones
With the Treo 600, physicians will download information via Sprint Corp.’s wireless network to the ImpactRX database, allowing the company to collect data to measure the relationship between pharmaceutical sales activities and physician prescribing behavior. That data assists the pharmaceutical industry in developing effective sales and marketing strategies for specific products.
“The Treo 600 has enabled us to develop an effective solution tailored to meet our clients’ needs, as well as provide terrific benefits to our physician members,” said Patrick Bergin, senior director of network operations for ImpactRx.
