Nokia launches phone targeted at business users

ESPOO, Finland—Nokia Corp. has launched the Nokia 6670 imaging smart phone for mobile professionals around the world.

The Symbian operating system-based GSM phone will come in two versions—one for the Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia markets and another for the Americas markets.

The device features a 1-megapixel camera with four-times digital zoom, a photo editor application, document viewers for reading e-mail attachments, personal information management capabilities, a Web browser with support for PDF files, Bluetooth technology and the Nokia Wireless Keyboard for faster data input.

“We are witnessing a rapid shift from PDAs to smart phones, as manufacturers are able to include voice and PDA functionalities into a single device,” said Juha Putkiranta, senior vice president of multimedia imaging for Nokia. “With the introduction of the Nokia 6670 imaging smart phone, Nokia is driving the expansion of the smart-phone market and strengthening its position to capitalize on this significant growth opportunity.”

The phone also has advanced security features including mobile anti-virus software from F-Secure, the Nokia Mobile VPN Client, and SSL encryption for Web-based applications.

It is expected to be available next month for approximately $615.
