WATERLOO, Ontario-Research In Motion has launched the quad-band, Bluetooth-enabled BlackBerry 7290 Wireless Handheld for mobile professionals.
It is scheduled to be available in the United States through Cingular Wireless next month and is expected to become available in November for mobile professionals in the United Kingdom, Germany and Ireland through MmO2.
Cingular plans to initially offer the device for a promotional price of $149 with a two-year service agreement.
The Java-based device features a quad-band phone that operates on the GSM/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 MHz frequencies, Bluetooth connectivity, a brighter color screen and enhanced memory, in addition to BlackBerry’s traditional e-mail, short messaging service, organizer, Web browsing and corporate data access capabilities.
