WALTHAM, Mass.-Airpath Wireless Inc. introduced a new services platform designed to allow for easier Wi-Fi roaming.
The company launched InterRoam, which helps manage contracting, rating, billing and settlement issues between providers. AirPath said the new product will allow for more rapid deployment of the technology by network and service providers.
“Fragmentation among Wi-Fi providers caused by the lack of seamless roaming agreements needs to end,” said Amy Cravens, senior analyst for Instat/MDR. “Airpath’s neutral platform is part of the solution to ubiquitous roaming.”
The company has also created the Airpath Provider Alliance, which comprises 700 global members operating 5,000 hot spots in 28 countries.
