AWS offers mobile music store, T-Mobile aligns with The Black Eyed Peas

Mobile music continued to make news Tuesday, with two carriers announcing new efforts to serenade subscribers.

AT&T Wireless Services Inc. launched mMode Music Store, allowing consumers to browse, listen to and purchase digital tracks from a library of 750,000 tunes. After purchasing tracks, they can download them to their PCs from the store, which was built in cooperation with Microsoft and Loudeye Corp., a digital music and video distributor.

Full-song downloads are $1 each, and entire CDs start at $10. Consumers can have the charges appear on their phones or credit-card bills.

Meanwhile, T-Mobile International and Motorola Inc. announced a marketing alliance with the music group The Black Eyed Peas. The effort will incorporate wireless, online and radio promotional activities, including concert ticket giveaways and opportunities for fans to access the band’s material before public release.

T-Mobile will market The Black Eyed Peas-related musical content, wallpapers and videos through the carrier’s t-zones service.
