REDWOOD CITY, Calif.-Openwave Systems Inc. said it has agreed to support carrier NTT DoCoMo products with i-mode functionality in the operator’s efforts to expand Internet services in Europe, Asia and other markets.
This will allow end users to access more than 82,000 Internet sites as well as services such as e-mail, online shopping and banking, ticket reservations and restaurant advice, said Openwave.
Openwave had earlier agreed to support the devices with its Openwave Phone Suite Version 7. But this agreement will cover all server products, including Openwave Mobile Access Gateway, Openwave Email Mx, Openwave Multimedia Messaging Services Center and Openwave Portal Support.
“By adding i-mode support to its client and server products, Openwave helps us to roll out our services to more carriers quickly, with confidence and ease,” said Shig Sando, managing director, i-mode global business at NTT DoCoMo.
