OVERLAND PARK, Kan.-Sprint PCS Vision users can send camera-phone photos and order prints from retailers including Ritz Camera, Sam’s Club and Wolf Camera, through a new service, the carrier announced.
The service allows users who have taken pictures with their camera phones and uploaded them to a Picture Mail online album to search for nearby photofinishers and order prints of different sizes and quantities. Consumers can also send pictures to photo developers across the country.
The carrier claims more than 270 million picture and video messages have been sent over its network during the last 26 months. In July, Sprint launched America’s first 1-megapixel camera phone, the PM-8920.
“Sprint’s Picture Mail customers can now take full advantage of high-resolution mobile devices by taking pictures worth saving and printing,” said Jeff Hallock, a Sprint vice president. “By providing a more robust Picture Mail service, Sprint is continuing to transform the camera phone into arguably one of the most important electronics devices of our time.”
The service is available to users who purchase the Sprint PCS Vision Pictures Pack for $15 per month in addition to their calling plan. The package includes PCS Vision access; unlimited taking, uploading and sending of photos; and other offerings.
