TOKYO-Japanese wireless carrier KDDI announced what it called the first music download service that allows users to download full songs. The new 1x service is called EZ Chaku-uta Full and is scheduled to launch in November.
KDDI said the music distribution software for mobile telephones allows users to download an artist’s song in its entirety and can be used with a maximum of 2.4 megabits per second transmission speed. The downloaded music can be replayed on the mobile phone’s stereo speakers and can be hooked up to external headphones and stereo speakers.
The service charge per song will generally be 91 cents, and users will be able to download about 10,000 songs from six Web sites covering a wide range of music.
The Japanese carrier also established music portal site EZ Music! and announced four new CDMA 1x handsets with stereo speakers, large-capacity data folders and compatibility with an external memory, enabling copyrighted content like songs to be saved.
