CHANDLER, Ariz.-Space Data Corp. has expanded its SkySite balloon-borne wireless data network to cover a total of 600,000 square miles.
The network, used primarily by oil and gas companies for monitoring and controlling well sites, now provides coverage in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, and to portions of New Mexico, Arkansas, Arizona and the Gulf of Mexico.
“We estimate that there are more than 350,000 oil and gas wells, millions of miles of pipelines and tens of thousands of compressors, tanks and service vehicles within the 600,000-square-mile SkySite Network coverage area,” said Mark David, Space Data’s director of marketing. “Companies that own those assets now have the ability to monitor, control and track them with service that is unmatched in its combination of large coverage footprint, low price and high reliability.”
