LONDON-U.K.-based Racal Instruments Wireless Solutions (RIWS) has announced that it is delivering upgraded third-generation base station test systems with integrated Trillium software from Continuous Computing.
Based on the Third Generation Partnership Project-compliant and R4/R5-compatible Trillium platform, the RIWS base station test systems are designed to enable network operators to carry out extensive network testing before rolling out 3G networks to ensure the quality of the advanced mobile services promised by 3G technology.
Continuous Computing has provided its radio network subsystem signaling and data plane modules on which RIWS has built its base station testing application.
The resulting 3G radio network controller is an intelligent node that sits within the 3G network, providing radio resource and bearer management. Continuous Computing has also provided a range of professional services as part of the deal, such as turnkey platform integration, product customization and device driver development.
“We want to position ourselves as a telecoms solution provider that provides the plumbing for a network and allows equipment vendors to drop in any application on top, be that ringtones, music or messaging,” said Ken Kalb, chairman, chief executive officer and co-founder of Continuous Computing,<p
