BASINGSTOKE, United Kingdom-Motorola Inc. said it will provide three new handsets later this year to U.K.-based wireless operator 3’s UMTS network. Motorola noted the handsets will take advantage of 3’s video mobile services including person-to-person video calling, full length music videos, and streaming entertainment and news content.
The handsets include the Motorola A1000, which will include a 1.2-pixel and VGA integrated camera, a touch screen, USB and Bluetooth connectivity and 24 megabytes of user memory; the E1000, which includes a 1.2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, a built-in MP3 player, video playback capabilities and twin stereo speakers; and the C975, which includes a VGA camera, a speakerphone and support for video streaming and video calling.
Motorola also claimed that all three handsets will provide a smaller form factor than previous models, as well as improved battery life. Prices for the handsets were not released.
Motorola currently provides its A845 handset as one of two models available for AT&T Wireless Services Inc.’s recently launched UMTS network in a handful of U.S. markets.
