Motorola launches Ferrari-inspired phone at Bloomingdale’s

NEW YORK-Another handset took to the catwalk yesterday, as Motorola launched a $600 phone that will be sold at Bloomingdale’s.

The phone manufacturer teamed with the famed department store and Italian carmaker Pininfarina for the new i833, which is based on the design of the i830 model. The phone features “a sleek shape inspired by the lines of a Ferrari 360 Modena,” according to a press release, as well as a translucent internal lens, a gas tank-shaped audio jack cover and a grill-like bottom connector cover.

Ferrari and Maserati are Pininfarina lines. Nextel Communications Inc. will provide service for the new phone in the United States.

Last week, Samsung teamed with Vogue magazine and fashion maven Diane von Furstenberg to launch a “designer phone” created especially for women.
