LOS ANGELES-Twentieth Century Fox studio announced Wednesday that it will create a series of one-minute dramas based on the hit show “24” specifically for mobile users with Vodafone Group plc.
Vodafone, the world’s biggest operator, will begin offering the video content in the United Kingdom in January over its new UMTS-based high-speed wireless network (see Vodafone launches UMTS service in 13 countries. The one-minute videos will be introduced in up to 23 more Vodafone markets and will be available in the United States through Verizon Wireless.
Twenty-four “mobisodes” of the show will be produced, and Fox also agreed to develop other programming specifically for mobile users. According to Fox, it marks the first time a Hollywood studio has agreed to make a TV series exclusively for mobile-phone users.
