Frisby to step down as chief of CompTel/ASCENT

WASHINGTON, D.C.-CompTel/ASCENT announced that H. Russell Frisby Jr. will step down as chief executive officer of the telecom carrier association in 2005.

Frisby, who has led CompTel/ASCENT since 1998, will remain CEO until a successor is found. Frisby also is serving as CompTel/ASCENT’s acting chief legal officer.

“During the past six years, the competitive telecommunications landscape has changed dramatically, and with Russell at the helm, CompTel/ASCENT has risen to the challenges and adapted in numerous ways to ensure that the association’s members receive the best representation,” said J. Sherman Henderson III, chairman of CompTel/ASCENT’s board of directors.

The association’s board has established a committee to search for a successor.
