COPENHAGEN, Denmark-RTX, a wireless product development company, and Voice over Internet Protocol provider Skype Technologies S.A. said they have agreed to develop handsets for cordless Internet telephony.
The phones would eliminate the need for users to sit in front of their personal computers to use Internet telephony and gives them the option to make free Skype calls via the Internet or use analog telephone lines.
The cordless functionality uses DECT technology. The telephone base station connects to the computer via a USB interface and to the telephone line via the normal telephone jack.
