CHICAGO-The Computing Technology Industry Association and The Association for Automatic Identification and Mobility announced plans to cooperate on developing a vendor-neutral certification program for radio-frequency identification technology.
The groups said the certification initiative is an attempt to address an industrywide shortage of RFID experts, which is slowing adoption of RFID technology.
Representatives from several companies are scheduled to meet next week at CompTIA headquarters to discuss the certification initiative. Issues on the agenda include the business need for RFID skills development and the scope and structure of an industry-accepted RFID certification.
