LONDON-Shazam Entertainment announced a partnership with The Link that calls for Shazam’s mobile music recognition service to be made available at 300 of The Link’s High Street stores in the United Kingdom.
The partnership marks the launch of Shazam’s first subscription-based product, said the company.
Shoppers will be able to trial the service by “tagging” two free songs using the service by picking up leaflets in stores and texting keywords to short codes on their mobile handsets. Once a song has been tagged, the service searches Shazam’s catalog of music and returns a short message service tag with song title and artist to the handset.
The service will be marketed in stores alongside the Napster download service and the Monstermob ringtone products.
