CAMBRIDGE, United Kingdom-Cambridge Broadband said it has partnered with Sequans Communications to develop a new product called VectaMAX.
The product will integrate Sequans’ WiMAX system-on-a-chip into Cambridge Broadband’s VectaStar customer premise equipment to produce a pico base station with integrated backhaul, said the companies. VectaMAX will provide local coverage for a range of licensed and unlicensed bands. Backhaul traffic will be carried on the core VectaStar network along with E1/T1, ATM and Internet Protocol as part of a complete alternate access network.
Cambridge Broadband also said it is adding new frequency variants to its VectaStar product line, the first of which will be at 10.5 GHz. Other frequency bands will be available this year, said the company.
