BELLEVUE, Wash.-3G Americas signed a memorandum of understanding with the Association of Telecommunications Enterprises of the Andean Community that calls for the mutual cooperation regarding wireless communication issues in the region, including the sharing of technical information and participation in related wireless events. ASETA currently assists in developing telecommunications and integrating the Andean region countries of South America, including Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela.
“Collaborating with ASETA on areas of common interests to both our organizations’ objectives benefits the wireless industry and customers in the Andean community,” explained Chris Pearson, president of 3G Americas, which promotes the deployment of GSM-based wireless technologies throughout the Americas. “The focus is just not on the wireless evolution, but will also include spectrum policies and planning, regulation, and using wireless technology to support the social and economic development in this region.”
