In other Samsung news, the company announced a new deal with Flash company Macromedia to install Macromedia’s Flash Lite 1.1 technology into a range of handsets. Samsung said its first Flash Lite handset will sell in South Korea, and it will later expand sales into Europe and the United States. The company did not provide specific shipment plans.
“Macromedia Flash Lite 1.1 sets the standard for mobile-rich interactive experiences. As a proven technology, it improves our user interface development and improves the end-user experience,” said Geehong Yoon, executive vice president of design for Samsung. “Samsung has built its reputation on innovation and leading technologies, and our relationship with Macromedia builds perfectly on this tradition.”
Samsung said it will use the Flash technology to “rapidly generate intuitive user interfaces and applications that can be easily deployed with Flash Lite 1.1 across handsets with differing operating systems, processors, browsers and screen sizes.”
