Flarion announces next generation of Flash-OFDM

BEDMINSTER, N.J.-Flarion Technologies Inc. said it has unveiled the next generation of its Flash-OFDM protocol, raising the stakes for the company in the battle for supremacy against other technologies like WiMAX and UMTS-TDD in the eyes of major carriers in the United States, Europe and Asia.

Sprint PCS is one carrier Flarion may be courting.

The company announced it Flexband product, which it claims will deliver high-capacity, high-performance on-demand video, voice and data services.

The company claims its new technology is five times faster than CDMA2000 EV-DO technology at a lower cost.

“For the first time, operators can deliver triple-play converged VoIP, data and broadcast video-based IP applications with a single, packet-based carrier class network,” said the company.
