Verizon announces NBA All-Star messaging features

BEDMINSTER, N.J.-Verizon Wireless reported that its customers can participate in this weekend’s National Basketball Association All-Star festivities from their wireless handsets.

The carrier said interested customers can send a text message to 622, which will register them for participation in voting for the All-Star game’s most valuable player, Rookie Challenge MVP and a fan poll predicting the winner of the Slam Dunk contest. The text messages will be deducted from a subscriber’s bundled offering or will be charged at 10 cents for each sent message and 2 cents for each received message.

Customers also can register to receive pictures from the event via a picture message sent to select handsets. Picture messages will either be deducted from a subscriber’s bundle or charged 25 cents for each message sent or received.
