WASHINGTON-Nortel Networks Ltd. said it is providing the U.S. Navy with a mobile communications system for humanitarian relief efforts in areas of Indonesia affected by the tsunami disaster.
The Nortel system will be used by Navy and medical personnel from the hospital ship USNS Mercy, said the company.
The dollar amount was not disclosed.
“There are few things more rewarding than being part of a humanitarian effort,” said Bill Owens, president and chief executive officer at Nortel.
