Danger promises to fix Sidekick data problems

Danger said it plans to put “fixes in place” to restore Sidekick users’ data functions, Danger and carrier partner T-Mobile USA Inc. said in a statement.

“Danger and T-Mobile regret any inconveniences experienced by Sidekick customers as a result of an identified technical issue that has been limiting customer access to data services since Sunday, March 6,” the companies said. “Voice and SMS functions on the Sidekick are unaffected.”

The Danger device works under an innovative client-server architecture that essentially gives carriers over-the-air control through the software in the device. The architecture also means that users must access the wireless network to manage much of the device’s functions.
