BERLIN-Chipmaking behemoth Intel said it will work with German media company Bertelsmann to develop a new technology for legally downloading and sharing files through the Internet.
The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company will make chips for devices to support the new service, which will be sold to wireless carriers and Internet service providers. Bertelsmann unveiled the new technology, called GNAB, last week.
The software is designed to allow content creators and distributors to deliver music, games and movies over the Internet. Intel has defended file-sharing technologies in the United States, filing a document with the Supreme Court this month backing Internet portal Grokster in a case that has drawn national attention.
