WWiSE adds new members

DALLAS-The World Wide Spectrum Efficiency consortium, which has developed a complete proposal for the IEEE 802.11 Task Group N, said it added several new members.

France Telecom, Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan and NTT joined the group’s efforts, making 17 companies total that support the WWiSE proposal, said the group. Other members are Airgo Networks, Broadcom Corp., Buffalo, Conexant Systems Inc., ETRI, Hughes Network Systems, Motorola, Nokia, Ralink Technology, Realtek, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments, TrellisWare Technologies and Winbond Electronics.

TGn is aimed at developing a next-generation Wi-Fi standard capable of sustaining data throughput of more than 100 megabits per second.
