Telus to sell high-end device from UTStarcom

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y.-Canadian carrier Telus Mobility announced it will sell the Audiovox PPC 6600 from UTStarcom for $350 with a three-year service agreement. The high-end device features Microsoft Corp.’s Pocket PC operating system, Bluetooth and an integrated MP3 player.

“The Audiovox PPC 6600 combines the unmatched flexibility of Microsoft Windows Mobile software for smart phones, the high quality of Audiovox devices and the reliability and extensive coverage of Telus Mobility’s national 1x network into a compact device for e-mail, Internet access and multimedia applications,” said Robert Blumenthal, vice president of products and services for Telus.

Sprint and Verizon sell a similar device from UTStarcom, which last year acquired Audiovox Corp.’s handset distribution business.
