AMSTERDAM-Dutch electronics manufacturer Royal Philips Electronics has reorganized its semiconductor business into four units to cut costs and better address specific markets, the company said late Tuesday.
Philips said it has created an Automotive & Identification unit to complement existing Mobile & Personal, Home, and Multi-Market units. Philips Chief Executive Officer Frans van Houten left the door open for further restructuring in the semiconductor operation.
The world’s biggest lighting manufacturer, Philips also produces consumer electronics and hospital equipment.
