BERLIN-Nokia Corp. released its new Local Business Connectivity product, which the company said will allow businesses to manage applications and services for their Nokia smart phones. The company also announced its first customer for the offering: Fujitsu Services Oy, an information technology service provider in Finland.
“Enterprises are mobilizing their applications to increase their productivity. We have developed a local connectivity solution that strengthens the mobilization of the existing services and supports the development of new ones,” said Jouni Malinen, venture manager for Nokia’s Ventures Organization. “With the Nokia Local Business Connectivity Solution, access to critical enterprise applications can be managed in a highly cost efficient way, yet offering premium usability.”
Nokia said the product allows IT managers to control Nokia wireless devices through cellular, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth networks. The system gives managers control over backups, application installation and updates, personal information management, messaging, browsing and content distribution. The offering includes software for Nokia Series 60 and Series 80 smart phones, small multiradio Nokia Service Point for connectivity, and the Nokia Service Manager. It will be commercially available in the fourth quarter.
